Middlesex University Dubai is proud to announce the Seventh Emerging Research Paradigms in Business and Social Sciences (ERPBSS) conference. The international conference will be held from 13th to 15th May 2024 at Middlesex University Dubai Campus in Knowledge Park, Dubai. ERPBSS 2024 will be a hybrid conference with participants having an option of attending and presenting either in-person or virtually.
Over the last 13 years, our biennial flagship conference, one of the highlights of the University’s calendar, has attracted hundreds of delegates from leading institutions across the world. The interdisciplinary conference provides a platform for researchers and practitioners to communicate their findings, spread awareness regarding new advancement, and engage in meaningful discourse with professionals from different fields, and foster local and international collaborations.
ERPBSS 2024 Conference Theme – ‘Sustainability Revisited: Adapting to a New Global Landscape’
For over half a century, the concept of sustainability has been integral in shaping our understanding of the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic factors, further enriched by the more recent focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. Initially introduced in 1972 and further refined in 1987, this concept has achieved notable successes, exemplified by the deployment of the Millennium Development Goals (2000-2015) and the ongoing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Despite significant progress, the contemporary world confronts increasingly complex challenges, such as climate change, resource scarcity, and economic volatility. These developments necessitate a critical reassessment and recalibration of our sustainability strategies. The ERPBSS 2024 conference aims to delve into how the foundational pillars of sustainability - people, planet, and profit - can be realigned or redefined to address both current and future challenges. This exploration requires a comprehensive understanding of the current state of each pillar, along with an investigation into how advancements in one area can be harmoniously achieved without compromising the others.
ERPBSS 2024 will provide a global platform for thought leaders, policymakers, academics, and practitioners to engage in this dynamic, inclusive, and essential dialogue about our sustainable future. The conference hopes to engage participants from multiple disciplines towards developing a more responsive and effective cross-cutting sustainability framework, ensuring that our approaches remain relevant and impactful in meeting the immediate and long-term needs of our world.
