1st ACM International Workshop on Autonomous and Intelligent Mobile Systems
(ACM AIMS 2020)

Conference Website: https://imobile.acm.org/aims/2020/
Submission Link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=acmaims2020
Submission Due: 01 Nov. 2019, 11:59 PM IST

Workshop: 11 Jan. 2020, Bangalore, India
=========================================================================

The ACM International Workshop on Autonomous and Intelligent Mobile Systems
(AIMS 2020) seeks to present innovative research on all aspects of mobile
systems, applications, and services; which bridges the gap between theory and
practice by transgressing into working implementations and real-world
evaluations.

Rapid advances in sensing and actuation, communication and networking, embedded
and distributed computing, algorithm design (that amplify composition, learning,
adaptation, and cognition) and hardware acceleration are fast bringing super
intelligent and autonomous systems into our daily lives. The near future holds
the promise of electric driverless cars, delivering drones, co-working robots
and humanoids, conversational bots, smart wearables, etc. A major paradigm
change is the degree of intelligence and autonomy exhibited by such new systems,
operating at close proximity to urban environments in general and humans
specifically. AIMS, the flagship event of IMOBILE ACM Chapter, is interested in
bringing out various system challenges presented by this newer paradigm.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
===================================================

- Vehicular, drone and robotic, wearable systems
- Novel (multimodal) mobile sensing methodologies with radio, acoustics, and light
- Heterogeneous collaborative sensing, including human-machine sensor systems
- New platforms and hardware designs for mobile systems
- System-level energy management and energy harvesting
- Systems software (including operating systems, network stacks, and programming)
- System-level services (such as time and location estimation, navigation and dynamic path planning)
- Middleware for mobility supporting systems (such as management, configuration, and deployment)
- Mobility analytics (including quality, integrity, and trustworthiness)
- Learning algorithms and models for perception, understanding, and adaptation of systems for mobile applications
- Fault-tolerance, dependability, and verification for mobile systems
- Backscatter; millimeter wave and terahertz; visible light communication
- 5G mobile networks
- Novel antenna technologies
- AR/VR for mobile systems
- Security and privacy in mobile sensing
- Applications and deployment experiences of autonomous vehicles, drones, cobots
- Results from prototypes, test-beds, and demonstrations
- Non-traditional topics that bring new perspectives to mobile sensing and computing

In general, if the submission is relevant to established SIGMOBILE conferences
(such as MobiCom, MobiSys, SenSys, and Ubicomp), then there is high chance that
the submission would be relevant to this workshop as well.

Important Deadlines:
====================

- Submission site opens.......: 01 Aug. 2019
- Submission Due..............: 01 Nov. 2019, 11:59 PM IST
- Notification of Acceptance..: 22 Nov. 2019
- Camera Ready Due............: 06 Dec. 2019
- Workshop....................: 11 Jan. 2020

Submission Guidelinesi:
=======================

AIMS 2020 solicits TWO types of submissions:

- Full papers: Maximum length of 6 pages, including title, author list,
abstract, all figures, tables, and references. At least one author of each
accepted paper must register for the workshop and present the paper.
- Vision abstracts: Extended abstract that offers a future vision (in terms of
research, innovation, standardization) in this space; of maximum length of 3
pages. The abstract should include title, author list, narrative (the vision
statement), and references. At least one author of each accepted abstract must
register for the workshop, and participate in a future visions session. The
session will include short talks by author of accepted abstracts, followed by
discussion.

Review Policy:
==============

- AIMS invites submission of original work not previously published, or under
review at another conference or journal.
- Submissions (including title, author list, abstract, all figures, tables, and
references) must be no greater than 6 pages in length for Full papers (a
minimum number of 3 pages are required), and must be no greater than 3 pages
in length for Vision abstracts.
- Reviews will be double-blind: authors name and affiliation should not be
included in the submission.
- Submissions must follow the formatting guidelines as given on ACM Website; and
those that do not meet the size and formatting requirements will not be
reviewed.
- All papers must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and submitted
through the AIMS workshop submission site.
- All workshop papers (full papers - both regular and abstracts) will appear in
conference proceedings and submitted to ACM digital library (Approval
pending).
