Edge of Things (EoT2019) workshop: Enabling Internet of Things Ecosystems through Edge Computing.
The workshop is jointly held with the 28th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (ICCCN 2019), August 1st, 2019, Valencia, Spain. *** PAPER SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 14TH *** Direct link for submissions: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icccn2019 CALL FOR PAPERS The rising smart applications' demands as well as the ballooning end-users' expectations have jointly focused huge industry investments and research interest on the network edge, with the staunch goal of unleashing the full Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem potential. In order to establish a mutually beneficial, transparent and inter-dependent continuum of (latency sensitive, reliable, cyber-physical and opportunistic) IoT services involving both heterogeneous devices and different stakeholders across different domains, the Edge of Things (EoT) has arisen as the seamless integration among the Cloud, Fog and Edge Computing paradigms. Such promising synergy is still in its embryonic stage and, given the extensiveness and relative infancy of the research areas, several threats may lag EoT diffusion or shadow its benefits. Indeed, the reliable and optimized management of processing and communication resources both at device and infrastructural level, the dynamic trade-off between centralized and distributed approaches, and the overcoming of standardization barriers in the direction of full interoperability, are just some open issues which require novel approaches and advanced key techniques. This Workshop aims at investigating the several topics under the EoT umbrella and welcomes original paper submissions providing innovative research as well as technical contributions aimed to foster the creation of a new value chain and an energized IoT ecosystem spanning from the network core to the edge. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Modelling, Design, Implementation and Simulation of EoT Systems - Intelligent, Energy-aware and mobility-aware solutions for EoT - Standards and Interoperability in EoT systems - EoT Protocols - Edge-oriented Networking Architectures - EoT Middleware - Big EoT Data - Edge-enabled Social Networking and Applications - Security, privacy and blockchain in EoT - Edge-based IoT Applications and Services in Impact Application Domains (Smart City, Smart Healthcare, Smart Grid, etc.) Submission instructions can be found at the workshop website: http://plasma.deis.unical.it/events/EoT2019/ The workshop proceedings will be published in IEEExplore as a part of the ICCCN2019 main conference proceedings: http://icccn.org/icccn19/ Selected papers from the workshop are invited to submit extended versions of their original contributions to the journal Sensors (IF:2.475) in a Special Issue "Selected Papers from the 1st Edition of EoT Workshop 2019": https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/eot2019. Moreover, selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their original contribution to the Springer series "Internet Of Things - Technologies, Communications and Computing", covered by Scopus: https://www.springer.com/series/11636. |
