International Workshop on:
Biometrics and Information Security, (BIS'13) In conjunction with The 10th FTRA International Conference on Secure and Trust Computing, Data Management, and Applications (STA 2013) Fukouka, Japan, July 8-10, 2013 Aims and Scope: Recently, and due to the large diversity of the hackers and attacks, information security has become a crucial need for securing almost all information transaction applications. Biometrics technologies are a new trend in information security that provides good security level. Biometrics can be easily combined with the traditional information security techniques in order to achieve much stronger security levels. Due to the huge demands on biometrics systems deployments, several challenges are keep arising with respect to trait acquisition, pre-processing, feature extraction and features matching. These challenges need to be addressed in order to enhance the performance of any biometric system in terms of response time and accuracy. This workshop focuses on all biometrics traits such as fingerprint, palmprints, iris patterns, retinal scan, hand geometry, voice and signature with respect investigating their challenge, reporting the up-to-date proposed solutions and open doors for new applications. The aim of this workshop is to attract researchers and practitioners from academia and industry, and provide a discussion panel in order to share their experiences of using the novel techniques for addressing the challenges in biometrics research area. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: ** Individual identification and privacy protection ** Digital right management and protection ** Multi-modal biometrics and data fusion ** Feature extraction and noise removal ** Deformation modeling and analysis ** Data hidden and watermarking ** Encryption and cryptography ** Modeling of aging effects ** Computer network security ** Liveness detection Paper Submission: BIS’13 solicits original, unpublished, and high-quality research papers. The authors are invited to submit their contributions formatted as Springer’s LNEE (same as LNCS) single column with 8-10 pages for long papers, and 5-7 pages for short papers. Submitted papers will be refereed by at least two reviewers for quality, correctness, originality and relevance. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in Springer's LNEE series, and it will be included in the Springer's digital library. The authors are asked to follow the (STA 2013) submission system (http://edas.info/N13687). Submission Schedule: ** Deadline for paper submission: February 1, 2013 ** Notification of acceptance/rejection: March 15, 2013 ** Deadline for camera-ready submission: April 05, 2013 ** Workshop date: July 8-10, 2013 Home page: ** http://egyptscience.net/BIS13/ Contacts: Dr.: Ali Ismail Awad, Al Azhar University, Egypt, aawad@ieee.org Professor: Aboul Ella Hassanien, Cairo University, Egypt, aboitcairo@gmail.com |
