Dear Colleagues,
it is our great pleasure to invite you to submit a proposal to the workshop COSMOPOLITANISM AND EMANCIPATION to be held on 18 September 2019 at the University Portucalense, Porto, Portugal This workshop aims at bringing together scientists of different research fields, along with representatives of various civil associations, sharing a common interest in discussing the distinct meanings that the concept of "emancipation" has acquired throughout history and the varied political projects it has inspired, particularly those with a cosmopolitan scope. We highly welcome contributions covering the following topics: - emancipation as thinking by yourself, as having the same social conditions etc. - emancipation by evolution, transformation, rupture, revolution, the conquest of rights etc. - emancipation from a tutor, a guardian, an authority, a situation of inferiority etc. - cosmopolitanism as emancipation On the occasion of this workshop, Vladimir Safatle's book, Dar Corpo ao Impossível (To Give Body to the Impossible), will be launched: https://grupoautentica.com.br/autentica/livros/dar-corpo-ao-impossivel/1708 Please submit your proposal here: https://cosmopolites.wixsite.com/emancipation/events/cosmopolitanism-and-emancipation Or send us (cosmopolitanism.withoutborders@gmail.com) an abstract of 300 words for a 30-minutes presentation by 10 August 2019.
