4th International Workshop on Modeling and Simulation of Peer-to-Peer and Autonomic Systems
(MOSPAS 2013)

http://cisedu.us/rp/hpcs13/2-conference/workshops/workshop-07-mospas

CALL FOR PAPERS

As part of
The International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation (HPCS 2013)
http://hpcs2013.cisedu.info/ or http://cisedu.us/rp/hpcs13

July 1 – 5, 2013
Helsinki, Finland

Paper Submission Deadline: March 14, 2013

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and Autonomic Computing (AC) paradigms have emerged as highly appealing, scalable solutions to tackle the growing complexity of software and hardware systems. While P2P solutions put the emphasis on decentralization and sharing of resources, AC solutions are based on equipping computational entities with autonomic (self-*) features. Both approaches are of course complementary and are often combined together in modern distributed systems that avoid central coordination and human intervention. The design, implementation, and analysis of such complex systems pose several challenges, both with functional and non-functional properties, depending on network size, churn rate and application context. This workshop has the goal of providing an international forum for researchers and practitioners willing to present, discuss and exchange highly innovative research results and advanced topics that combine theoretical and practical approaches to modeling and high performance simulation of P2P and Autonomic systems.

The Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following issues of P2P and Autonomic systems:
1. Formal Models
2. DEVS Modeling
3. Discrete Event Simulation
4. Agent-based Simulation
5. Formal Verification
6. Novel Techniques for M&S
7. M&S-Based Development Methods
8. Overlay Schemes
9. Advanced Knowledge Dissemination and Discovery
10. Design and Analysis of Applications and Services
11. Analysis of Performance and Robustness of Architectures
12. Workload Characterization and Simulation
13. Analysis of Emergent Behaviors
14. Measurement and Discovery of Real-world Network Topologies
15. Evaluation of Consistency
16. Evaluation of Hybrid Systems (e.g. combination of P2P and AC with Client/Server Architectures)
17. Security aspects (e.g. Availability, Access Control, Integrity, Trust, Reputation)
18. Monitoring and countermeasures for unfair behaviors (e.g. Free-Riding in P2P Networks)
19. Real-Time Aspects, including Timing Violations for Multimedia and Other Real-Time Traffic
20. Analysis of novel network services supporting P2P such as ALTO and LEDBAT
21. Impact of P2P Traffic on the Network Infrastructure
22. Green Computing
23. Self-* features in P2P
24. P2P solutions in Autonomic Systems
25. Self-awareness in Autonomic Computing

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS:
You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Submissions should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author and include up to 6 keywords from the above list of topics and an abstract of no more than 350 words. The full manuscript should not exceed 7 double-column IEEE formatted pages, including figures, tables, references. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and posters will also be accepted for submission. Short papers are expected to expose preliminary yet promising highly-innovative ideas. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments.

Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript via EasyChair:
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mospas2013

Only PDF files will be accepted. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, technical clarity and presentation. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be registered and presented at the workshop.

Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings which will be made available at the time of the meeting. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2013 Conference web site. Accepted papers will be given further guidelines in preparing and submitting the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance.
