Smart wireless environmental sensor networks have an exciting role to play in our measurement and understanding of the natural environment. Sensor nodes sense, process and network data, but also make decisions about how to behave. These networks require a unique combination of technology and environmental science; from sensors to networking and the web. The last 10 years has seen significant advances in all these areas, as well as the overall problem of system integration. We aim to showcase working examples of fully integrated sensor networks from a range of environments (e.g. marine, glacial, fluvial, soils, volcanic) at different scales and discuss the recent advances and challenges in this vital new research.
This is the tenth ESN-session at the American geophysical Union! Come and meet people with common interests across all the geoscience fields. Student papers and posters very welcome (student poster prizes are available) and full papers are not required for this event.
The AGU conference itself is massive - with papers on everything from volcanoes to martian geology - and has an excellent exhibition space woth exploring.
