The 2019 The 4th IEEE International Symposium on Edge Computing and Blockchain (EdgeBlock 2019) will be held in Atlanta, USA. EdgeBlock 2019 is an international forum with emerging research focuses for researchers to present their latest researches and perspectives for future work in the field of blockchain and edge computing.
With thrive development of internet of things (IoT), we are in a new networked systems era. The total amount of data is unprecedently high and most of them are generated at the edge of the network due to the increase quantity of the embedded devices. By the method of edge computing, the computation is mainly performed on distributed device nodes which are closer to the physical data collection sources. It provides a high efficiency and security computational paradigm, which can tackle the challenges in reliability, security, and timeliness considerations in new social, environmental, industrial applications due to the advanced network resource management. Applying edge computing in the field of internet of things (IoT), physical computing and smart cities, has been attracting much attention in recent years. Blockchain is another concentration of the EdgeBlock 2019. Since the invention of Bitcoin in 2008, blockchain has drawn attention all over the world by its application in digital currency. Blockchain has promising characteristics of decentralized, cryptographically secured and immutable. It is commonly used in the field of internet of things, social networking, cyber security and internet banking. The emergence and applications of blockchain have significantly changed the way of data access and storage. The event also encourages scholars to submit their work in merging these two technical dimensions and explore potential solutions to enhancing the network performance and strengthening security. EdgeBlock 2019 is the next edition of a series of academic events following EdgeBlock 2018 (Tokyo, Japan), SmartFog 2017 (New York, USA), and SmartFog 2016 (New York, USA). Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to: Model, framework, and mechanism in designing blockchain-enabled edge Blockchain-based edge computing in social networking Blockchain-based edge in Cyber-physical systems Security and privacy in blockchain and edge Blockchain in digital currency and Internet banking Blockchain-enabled edge in 5G Cyber-attacks to blockchain and edge systems Advance artificial intelligence in blockchain and edge Edge-enhanced blockchain with FPGAs & ASICs Integrated communication design for edge-enhanced blockchain Important Dates Submissions Deadline: March 1st, 2019 Author Notification: April 7th, 2019 Final Manuscript Due: May 2nd, 2019 Conference Date: July 14th-17th, 2019 Program Chairs Keke Gai, Beijing Institute of Technology, China Linghe Kong, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China Cheng Zhang, Waseda University, Japan Paper Submission All papers need to be submitted electronically through the conference website: (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=edgeblock2019) with PDF format. Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings. Papers must be clearly presented in English, must not exceed 6 pages in IEEE Computer Society proceedings format (or up to 10 pages with the pages over length charge), including tables, figures, references and appendices. Papers will be selected based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation assessed by at least three reviewers. All submitted papers will be judged through double-blind reviews, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers. As an author, you are required to preserve the anonymity of your submission, while at the same time allowing the reader to fully grasp the context of related past work, including your own. Papers that do not conform to our double-blind submission policies will be rejected without review. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present the work. EdgeBlock 2019 reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from the digital library and indexing services), if the paper is not presented at the conference. All accepted papers will be published in IEEE CPS proceedings (EI Indexed) and collected by IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Two outstanding papers will be selected to receive the Best Paper Awards. |
