IBERAGENTS 2008
7th Iberoamerican Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems October 14, 2008, Lisboa, Portugal To be held at the 11th Ibero-American Artificial Intelligence Conference IBERAMIA 2008 http://iberagents08.di.fc.ul.pt/ Introduction -------------- Following the previous workshops on agents and multi-agent systems that have been organised in the context of the IBERAMIA conferences (Xalapa, Toledo, Atibaia, Malaga, Puebla and Ribeirão Preto), the purpose of this workshop is to provide a discussion forum on the most recent and innovative works in the area of multi-agent systems and autonomous agents. The Ibero-American Artificial Intelligence Conference (IBERAMIA) has always been a forum where Distributed Artificial Intelligence has marked its presence. In particular, since 1994, the area of Multi-Agent Systems has been the subject of an autonomous workshop. As part of IBERAMIA 2008 (11th Ibero-American Artificial Intelligence Conference) the 7th Ibero-American Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems (IBERAGENTS 2008), is meant to promote the continuation of this presence of the theme in IBERAMIAs. It is an international forum, with English as official language. Both academic researchers and industry practitioners are welcome to a forum where the focus will be on discussion and exchange of ideas. Aims, Scope and Topics --------------------------- Agent technology is a fundamental area of research in artificial intelligence as, for instance, the success of recent AAMAS conferences has demonstrated. Therefore, we think that it is crucial that the next Ibero-American Artificial Intelligence Conference can devote some space to the area of agents and its applications. The workshop will focus on theoretical and practical aspects of multi-agent systems development. Despite all the promises made in the last decade, MAS is a technology still to be adopted in commercial applications. More concretely, we would like to discuss which areas can especially benefit from agent technology and agent based applications, taking into account the current state of the art. We would like to cover not only the traditional applications (games, animation, simulation) but also extrapolate over new areas and future opportunities for multi-agent systems. This does not rule out any specific topic related to multi-agent systems, but preference will be given to research work that establish some connection with successful applications built upon some existing or developing multi-agent systems methodology. Some topics of special interest are ---------------------------------------- o Agent Architectures o Industrial and Commercial Applications o Agent Programming Languages o Agent-Based Applications o Agent-Oriented Software Engineering o Automated Negotiation and Decision Making o Artificial Social Systems o Cooperation, Coordination and Communication in MAS o Multi-Agent Evolution, Adaptation and Learning o Multi-Agent Simulation and Modelling o Scalability and Performance of MAS Important Dates ------------------- July 25, 2008 Paper submission deadline September 5, 2008 Author notification September 13, 2008 Camera-Ready October 14, 2008 Workshop Submission and Reviewing Process ---------------------------------------- Authors are invited to submit original papers (maximum 12 pages), or extended-abstracts (maximum 6 pages) of previously published work with research contributions and/or experience reports in English. Scientific or technical articles describing state-of-the-art techniques, algorithms, systems, environments, problems or applications relevant to the area of Multi-Agent Systems/Distributed Artificial Intelligence may be submitted. The Springer LNCS format must be used. Authors must prepare their submissions according to the instructions given by Springer-Verlag (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/ authors.htm/). More information can be found on the website of the Conference under the submission menu. In order to have papers published at least one of the authors should be registered in the IBERAGENTS Workshop. At least three program committee members with recognised expertise in the field will review each submission. The best accepted papers will be published in a special issue of the international journal "Inteligencia Artificial. Revista Iberoamericana de IA" (http://erevista.aepia.org). Submissions should be sent in PDF format by e-mail to the following address: iberagents08@di.fc.ul.pt.
