Workshop on Understanding Child Labour in Agriculture
RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia 8th – 9th April 2019 Labour market conditions are increasingly becoming central to international development policy and practice. In response, The Australian APEC Study Centre at RMIT University will host a workshop on Understanding Child Labour in Agriculture on 8th – 9th April 2019. The workshop will be held at RMIT’s Melbourne Campus in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. The aim of the workshop is to highlight existing and new evidence on the social and economic costs and benefits of child labour in the agricultural sector (primary industries) of developing countries. We invite experts from academia, government and non-government organisations. We are interested in perspectives from economics, political science, sociology, law, anthropology and psychology. Please send an extended abstract or preferably a working paper by January 11 2019 to Associate Professor Alberto Posso (alberto.posso@rmit.edu.au). Successful papers will be announced by January 31st 2019. Selected papers will form part of a proposal for an edited volume with a major international publisher. Participants are expected to serve as discussants at the workshop. There is no registration fee. Lunch will be provided on both days. A free conference dinner will be held on the evening of the 8th. If you have any further questions about the workshop, please e-mail Alberto Posso at alberto.posso@rmit.edu.au. |
