Submissions deadline: March 18th, 2011 (extended) Best papers: The best papers presented at the symposium will also be invited to publish an extended version at Elsevier Computers&Graphics Journal, International Journal of Virtual Reality or SBC Journal on 3D Interactive Systems. The first place will also receive an Nvidia 3DVision with Quadro board, the second an 3DVision kit and the third an 1TB HD. =============================== Traditionally sponsored by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), SVR is the major event on Virtual and Augmented Reality in Brazil, having established itself as an international scientific forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge among researchers, professionals, practitioners, students and developers concerned with research and development of virtual, augmented and mixed reality systems. Stimulating, original and innovative research papers as well as case studies and applications in the general field of virtual and augmented reality are encouraged to be submitted. Topics include, but are not limited to: VR/AR systems and toolkits Rendering techniques Advanced optical display technology Multi-user and distributed VR/AR and gaming 3D interaction Haptics, audio and other non-visual interfaces Tracking & Sensing Modeling and Simulation Hardware graphics acceleration Virtual humans and avatars Internet-based 3D applications and technologies Immersive VR/AR and gaming Presence and cognition Social, economical and technical impacts of VR/AR User studies and evaluation Applications of VR/AR/MR Full papers must have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 pages. Short papers must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 pages. Papers must be submitted electronically using the IEEE formatting guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting) and should be written in English (preferentially) or Portuguese. After a rigorous double-blind peer review process, the selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings, which will be available online at IEEE Xplore. The authors' names and affiliations, as well as references that identify the authors should be removed from the submitted manuscript. Selected papers should be presented in the technical sections of the symposium. An Award Committee will also select the Best Paper (full and short paper), and the authors of the ten best evaluated papers will be invited to submit an extended version to the Elsevier Computers&Graphics Journal, International Journal of Virtual Reality and the SBC Journal on 3D Interactive Systems.
