WMS 2011 - Second International Workshop on Mobile Security
In conjunction with MobiCASE 2011 October 27, 2011 - DoubleTree Hotel, Santa Monica, CA, USA http://wnss.sv.cmu.edu/wms/ Workshop Overview: Building on the success of last year's workshop, the 2nd International Workshop on Mobile Security (WMS) will complement the MobiCASE 2011 conference. The workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from academia, industry, and government to present and discuss novel results and approaches in the emerging area of mobile security, a topic at the intersection of wireless communications, mobile computing and computer security Unlike mobile devices in the past, which were designed for the sole purpose of voice-based communication, today's phones are powerful devices that can communicate, compute, and sense. There are many emerging applications (e.g. mobile banking, mobile social networking, location navigation) associated with smartphones, mobile internet, and telecom infrastructures. Since mobile devices are always with us and they contain various sensitive data, the issues of security, privacy, and trust become increasingly important and significantly more challenging. Topics of Interest: The main topics for the workshop will focus on vulnerabilities, attacks and defense approaches on mobile devices and network infrastructures. We seek papers in, but not limited to, the following areas: * Vulnerabilities in telecommunication infrastructure * Smartphone security * Open phones and trust technologies * Mobile internet security * Mobile location/navigation security * Mobile banking/payment security * Privacy issues on mobile social networking * Mobile malware modeling * UICC evolutions and security impacts * Secure coding practices for mobile applications * Intrusion detection on mobile devices * Power-sensitive cryptography for mobile devices Paper Submission: Papers will be limited to 6 single-spaced, double-column, 8.5" x 11" pages with 10-point font. Published paper format will follow that of the MobiCASE conference (see available templates at conference website). Submissions should be sent via email to wms [dot] chairs [at] gmail [dot] com in PDF format only. Paper submission deadline: August 31, 2011 Acceptance notification: September 12, 2011 Camera-ready papers due: September 19, 2011 Workshop date: October 27, 2011 Organizing Committee: - Patrick Tague, Carnegie Mellon University - co-chair - Yafei Yang, Qualcomm - co-chair - Lujo Bauer, Carnegie Mellon University - Konstantinos Pelechrinis, University of Pittsburgh - Kai Zeng, University of Michigan-Dearborn Any questions or comments?
