As a direct consequence of the "revolution" in information technologies, mathematical sciences are contributing more and more to advances in service science research, a trend that will grow in the future.

Services account for a major part of the IT industry today. Service computing is a cross-discipline which aims to study and better understand the foundations of this highly popular services industry. The scope of service computing covers the whole lifecycle of services innovation research that includes business componentization modeling, services modeling, services realization, services discovery, services optimization, as well as cloud computing.

Realizing that the mathematical sciences can be critical to many areas of services computing, we will organize a two-day minicourse on mathematical modeling in services computing at Carleton University in Ottawa August 2010. Prominent mathematicians and service science researchers will be paired to review the frontiers in the subject area and to share mathematical insights regarding future research directions in this growing discipline. This course is designed to offer young North American scientists an opportunity of acquiring knowledge in selected areas of mathematics and advanced scientific computing which have benefited from the needs of competitive service science.

The extensive courses and seminars included all the aspects of recent research. Furthermore, some case studies will be presented in two-hour seminars on areas of industrial excellence.

Proceedings are planed to be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Mathematics (SCI index).

Topics of interest include, but are NOT limited to, the following:

Mathematical Modeling in Services Science
Service Modeling and Implementation
Mathematical Modeling in Service Delivery, Deployment and Maintenance Service
Mathematical Modeling in Value Chains and Innovation Lifecycle
Mathematical Modeling in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Industry Standards and Solution Stacks
Service-based Grid/Cloud/Autonomic Computing
Mobile Services Computing
Services Computing in Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs)
Mathematical Modeling in Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Negotiation, Automation and Orchestration
Mathematical Modeling in Service Security, Privacy and Trust
Quality of Services (QoS) and Cost of Services (CoS)
Ontology and Semantic Web for Services Computing
Service Discovery
Services Engineering Practices and Case Studies

Prospective authors are requested to submit at liuyide@connect.carleton.ca.
