CALL FOR PAPERS

PerWare 2011
Workshop on Middleware and System Support for Pervasive Computing

(at PerCom 2011)
Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.
March 21, 2011
http://perware.uni-mannheim.de
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Designing systems to support pervasive computing poses many
challenges due to new requirements for system creation, deployment,
configuration, scaling, and maintenance. The goal of PerWare is to
explore these challenges through practical and buildable solutions.

PerWare solicits position papers that focus on system building in
pervasive computing, including, but not limited to, the following
topics:

* Platforms for pervasive computing

* Operating system and distributed systems support for pervasive
computing

* Software engineering techniques for pervasive computing

* Adaptable, recoverable, and fault tolerant pervasive computing
systems

* Resource and energy efficient pervasive systems

* Security and privacy of pervasive computing

* Management, configuration, and deployment of pervasive systems

We also welcome papers on novel applications or environments that have
a strong systems component, especially if those novel applications and
environments challenge existing ideas and design techniques.

Systems presented at PerWare need not be fully built or evaluated;
they need only provoke discussion.

The goal of this workshop is to foster the research community working
on pervasive systems. Since its first installment in 2004, PerWare
has successfully gathered the principal practitioners and their
experiences under one roof to discuss their findings and move the
state of the art forward. We look forward to continue this tradition
in PerWare 2011.

Submission Guidelines
----------------------

Submissions of papers are solicited in the IEEE 8.5x11 conference
format and must not exceed six pages. Research papers must be
original, unpublished work and not under review elsewhere. All
submissions will be peer-reviewed and selected based on their
originality, merit, and relevance to the workshop.

Paper submissions will be handled online at
http://perware.uni-mannheim.de/ .

Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop, and will appear in
the IEEE PerCom workshop proceedings and the IEEE Digital Library. At
least one author must have a full registration for PerCom (there is no
workshop-only registration) and present the paper. Failure to do so
will result in the paper *not* being included in the IEEE Digital
Library.

Please visit http://perware.uni-mannheim.de if you have any questions.
