Call For Papers

With more than 30 Billion connected devices expected by 2020, the rapid growth of the Internet-of- Things (IoT) makes it possible to gather and collect a tremendous amount of data in real time. This offers new opportunities for the development of the next generation of models and simulations using this live stream of information to better (re-)calibrate and inform them. Such models have the potential to better represent highly dynamic and complex systems. Potential applications for this IoT data include transportation, predictive maintenance, energy management, storm water management, agriculture and healthcare. While there are significant opportunities, there are also significant challenges in using these data, including the modification of existing models to take into account live data; the optimisation of sensor deployment; and developing methods for using the huge amount of data from the IoT devices for modelling and simulation purposes.
We invite research papers addressing one (or several) of the aforementioned challenges and/or detailing an original application of using live data in modelling and simulation.
This session is part of the stream Energy, integrated infrastructure and urban planning. More information about MODSIM is available here: https://mssanz.org.au/modsim2019/.

Session conveners
Robert Tanton (University of Canberra, Australia, robert.tanton@canberra.edu.au)

Paper submission

At MODSIM 2019, delegates will have a choice of presentation type – oral or poster.

Each delegate can specify their preferred presentation type (oral or poster), but the final decision on presentation type (oral or poster) will be made by the organisers based on the quality of the submission and the need to keep the number of oral presentations to a manageable number. It is anticipated that each delegate will receive one oral presentation with additional presentations likely to be given as posters.

Full papers and extended abstracts are due 31 July 2019. The author can decide whether to submit a full paper or extended abstract, regardless of presentation type (oral or poster).

Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection and any revisions required by 30 August 2019.

Reviewed and corrected full papers and extended abstracts must be finalised by 4 October 2019 to allow for publication to be finalised.
It is anticipated that, as in the past, all papers accepted for the proceedings of the MODSIM2019 congress will be indexed in the Web of Knowledge CPCI database. Extended abstracts will not be indexed.
