**************************************************************************************** Last Call for papers ITSC2010 Workshop: 1st Workshop on Traffic Behavior, Modeling and Optimization – TBMO'2010 (http://cicei.ulpgc.es/tmbo_2010/) 13th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC2010) Workshop Madeira Island, Portugal, 19 – 22 September 2010 **************************************************************************************** **************************************************************************************** Abstract (Full-Day Workshop) Traffic management has become a key quality of life issue for national, state and local authorities across the world. The energy, environmental and economic crises many of our citizens are experiencing is motivating the scientific community to engage in research aimed at addressing the negative impacts of traffic congestion towards achieving sustainable mobility goals. In addition, roads safety is also a priority issue. Every year thousands die in the roads, and there are many public institutions funding research projects in order to reduce that numbers. In this context multiple research groups are exploring different approaches aiming at a better understanding of driver behavior, the resulting traffic dynamics, and on strategies to improve the efficiency of the roadway infrastructure for all its users, be it drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists or transit riders. The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers, mainly from academia, in an open and informal environment, in order to share results, to discuss solutions and to plan for and be aware of future research initiatives. Call for Papers The workshop will consist of invited talks and submitted presentations. Interested authors are welcome to submit their contributions. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): * Traffic Simulation * Intelligent Transportation Systems * Advanced Traveler Information Systems * Traffic Flow Optimization * Traffic Behavior Modeling * Dynamic Traffic Control * Traffic vs. Environmental Issues * Traffic Logistics Optimization * Artificial Intelligence Methods for analysis of and solutions to the traffic problem * Urban Planning toward Sustainable Mobility * Pedestrian and Crowd Simulation * Advanced Public Transportation Systems Authors may chose to send a PDF paper (4 to 8 pages long) or a PDF slide file, or a video. Paper contributions should follow the IEEE Transactions format/style (http://itsc2010.isr.uc.pt/site/?q=node/11). Multimedia contributions should follow IEEE Transactions/Journals guidelines (http://www.ieee.org/portal/cms_docs_iportals/iportals/publications/journmag/transactions/MMdocumentation.pdf). All the papers presented along with the multimedia materials will be compiled in a Proceedings CD/DVD that will be delivered. Authors are free to publish their works in other meetings/journals. Therefore, we plan to edit an international research book including the paper contributions of those authors interested. All submissions should be sent to Javier J. Sanchez-Medina (jsanchez@polaris.ulpgc.es). Please, include the words "TBMO submission" in the abstract, and the contribution title and author names in the email. Important Dates * Contributed papers/multimedia due: June 28th, 2010 (NEW EXTENDED DEADLINE) * Notification of acceptance: July 15th, 2010 * Final paper submission deadline: July 30th, 2010 * ITSC 2010 commences in Madeira Island, Portugal: 19 – 22 September 2010 * Workshop date: 19 September 2010 Keynote Talk * 'Choice Architecture' and the design of Advanced Travel Information Systems (ATIS) By Dr. Erel Avineri -- University of the West of England, Bristol, UK Who should attend * Researchers from Academia * Engineers and Practitioners * Traffic Managers in Traffic Control Centers * Traffic Modelers.
