Call For Papers

Due to the safety concerns and travel restrictions caused by COVID-19, EAI INTSYS 2020 will take place online in a live stream.

Non-authors and Co-Authors of already registered papers can register for access to the live stream completely free of charge.

Scope
----------

INTSYS 2020 is part of the 6th annual Smart City 360˚Summit, promoting multidisciplinary scientific collaboration to solve complex societal, technological and economic problems of emerging Smart Cities. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are receiving increased attention as an answer to the need of innovative solutions to tackle safety, coordination and efficiency challenges related to transportation modes, congestion, traffic management, and networks. Based on technology, ITS can also be the base to develop more sustainable solutions.

In a context of increasing development and addressing current needs with new approaches or anticipating future societal needs, research in ITS is paramount and needs additional attention both from governments and companies. In parallel, these systems need to deal with cost issues, funding alternatives, privacy and liability issues, demand volatility, legislation, only to name a few of the concerns. Developing solutions that address real problems, with balanced costs, good balance between development time and the urge to introduce them to the market, and at the same time provide good service quality, is a challenge.

Development of ITS can benefit many stakeholders, from governments to companies and individuals, and the interaction between them is a challenge that also needs to be addressed. Even within academia, many areas can also positively contribute to the increasing value of the outcomes of ITS, such as architecture and urbanism, logistics and operations management, social sciences, and more. The space to bring these areas together also needs to be promoted.

These are some of the many challenges ITS faces and INTSYS 2020 intends to make its contribution. As so, the objective of the conference is threefold:

1. Enable researchers in ITS to share their contributions in the different areas of Intelligent Transport Systems and Logistics;
2. Bring together relevant ITS stakeholders and discuss intelligent solutions both for current as well as for future needs;
3. Raise collaboration among different research fields to develop more holistic solutions of current and future challenges. As so, the 2020 INTSYS conference is developed under the moto of “Challenges for 2030”.
