Reliving the Crash: Recession Narratives in Film and Television is a forthcoming anthology from the academic press, MacBain & Boyd Publishers, that will explore the cinematic and televisual representations of the global financial crisis of the early 2000s (the "Great Recession"). Themes of capitalism, mental health, class, and beyond, as they relate to recession narratives, will be examined across various genres. MacBain & Boyd is currently seeking an editor for this anthology.
Editorial duties will include the review of, and decisions on, submitted articles, including consideration of a certain number of invited articles; arrangement of articles within the anthology; and crafting of an introductory chapter covering the topic of the book, providing relevant background and historical context, and briefly summarizing each chapter. Other editorial responsibilities may include solicitation of endorsements, preparation of biographical statements, and book description. The editor will work directly with the Managing Editor to finalize the collection by late November. Expected release is early spring 2019. The editor will, of course, receive credit as Editor of the anthology, as well as a modest stipend, royalties on sales of the book, and gift copies of the anthology. Interested persons should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field of study (film, television, media, cultural studies, humanities), hold a teaching position (full, assistant, or adjunct) at a college or university, and have recent scholarly publications in their field. Additionally, the editor will have preferably published work on, or work closely related to, narratives of the Great Recession. Contact the Office of the Managing Editor at editor [at] macbainandboyd [dot] com by September 14, 2018 with queries and CV. MacBain & Boyd is also publisher of The Behavioral Mind: A Journal of Personality Disorders, a twice-annual scholarly journal on mental health; The Future Screen Series featuring scholarship that explores historical perspectives, contemporary discussions, and innovative developments in film, television, and new media studies; the Dissertations In Print series with a concentration on recent doctoral research in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields; and the forthcoming An Encyclopedic Dictionary of Interpersonal Psychotherapy: Terms and Concepts. Titles published by MacBain & Boyd are designed for academic markets, with text use including classroom adoptions, university library collections, and public library collections, as well as the general public.
