CALL FOR PAPERS - FINAL EXTENSION OF SUBMISSION DEADLINE - 31 Oct. 2020
SIMULATION MODELLING PRACTICE AND THEORY: Special Issue on “Modeling and Simulation of Hybrid Clouds” https://www.journals.elsevier.com/simulation-modelling-practice-and-theory/call-for-papers/special-issue-on-modeling-and-simulation-of-hybrid-clouds THEME: ------ As cloud computing continues to gain momentum, a wide range of applications moved to the cloud. Issues involved with this paradigm shift, such as security and cost, resulted in the adoption of hybrid clouds, especially by organizations with large on-premise infrastructure investments. A hybrid cloud is a combination of private and public clouds. It provides the best of both worlds, a balanced control on performance and security. Applications in hybrid clouds can move between private and public clouds for flexibility and efficient deployment. Additional public cloud resources can be utilized for outsourcing applications when private resources cannot cope with the workload. However, the adoption of hybrid clouds entails many challenges, such as QoS and security-aware workload offloading, cost-efficient public cloud utilization, effective resource management and load balancing. The scope of this Special Issue is to present state-of-the-art research covering a variety of concepts in hybrid clouds, particularly focused on modelling, simulation and performance evaluation of such platforms. Papers for the Special Issue must provide a substantial novel contribution, and authors must carefully situate their work with regard to the relevant scientific literature. They must clearly address research issues of Hybrid Clouds and show the role of modeling and simulation in this research area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Performance evaluation and modeling of hybrid clouds - Enterprise applications and services in hybrid clouds - Real-time applications in hybrid clouds - Storage and data architectures in hybrid clouds - Resource management, load balancing and scheduling in hybrid clouds - Security and privacy in hybrid clouds - Cost-saving strategies in hybrid clouds - Big data analytics in hybrid clouds - Energy efficiency of hybrid cloud infrastructures - Hybrid clouds integration with fog computing, the Internet of Things and multi-clouds SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: ---------------------- Manuscripts should be submitted online through the Editorial Manager (EM) submission system at the following link: https://www.editorialmanager.com/simpat/default.aspx Authors must select Special Issue: Hybrid Clouds when they reach the “Article Type” step in the on-line submission process. Submitted manuscripts should present original contributions and must not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers will be peer reviewed according to the high standards of the Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory Elsevier journal. Please feel free to contact the Guest Editors for any questions. IMPORTANT DATES (FINAL EXTENSION): ---------------- - Manuscript submission deadline: October 31, 2020 - Manuscript reviews to authors: January 15, 2021 - Manuscript revision due: March 15, 2021 - Final notification of acceptance: May 15, 2021 - Expected publication of the special issue: September, 2021 SPECIAL ISSUE EDITORS: ---------------------- Dr. Eleni KARATZA Email: karatza@csd.auth.gr Dr. Georgios STAVRINIDES Email: gstavrin@csd.auth.gr Department of Informatics Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 54124 Thessaloniki, Greece |
