Workshop on Geometric and topological methods in control and robotics, La Cristalera, Madrid, Spain, October, 4-6, 2010
The fields of controls and robotics have, to a significant extent, grown out of the successful breeding and application of mathematical theories of different nature.  Even apparently distant abstract subjects; such as, Geometry and Algebraic Topology, have found their way into novel applications in these engineering fields, provoking new theoretical questions in their own disciplines. This workshop intends to bring together experts in the fields of geometry, algebraic topology, mechanics, controls and robotics, with the purpose of disseminating state-of-the-art results and current trends in these intersecting areas. The target audience for the workshop are: (i) graduate students in both engineering and mathematics (e.g., robotics, control, dynamical systems); (ii) researchers in application areas such as motion planning of robotic systems; (iii)  researchers in any of the aforementioned fields; and (iv) teachers interested in the content of the mini-courses for the preparation of possible (graduate/undergraduate) courses La Cristalera residence is located in Miraflores de la Sierra, in the mountains near Madrid. The Summer Residence of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, located in Miraflores de la Sierra (La Cristalera) a nice mountain resort 50 km out of the city of Madrid Scientific Committee Anthony Bloch (University of Michigan, USA) Jorge Cortes (University of California, San Diego, USA) Melvin Leok (University of California, San Diego, USA) Sonia Martinez (University of California, San Diego, USA) Arjan van der Schaft (University of Groningen, The Netherlands) Local organizing Committee María Barbero Liñán (Queen’s University, Canada) David Iglesias Ponte (CSIC, Spain) David Martín de Diego (CSIC, Spain) Daniel Peralta Salas (CSIC, Spain) Edith Padrón (Universidad de La Laguna) |
