The 22nd International Conference on Yue Dialects will be held at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on December 8-9, 2017. The Conference is co-organized by EdUHK's Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, and Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies. We cordially invite both regional and international scholars and students to share their works on all areas of linguistics related to Cantonese and other Yue dialects. Globalization is the theme and keyword of this year's conference. Research related to the following topics or methodology would be especially encouraged:
•Digital Humanities on Cantonese •Cantonese teaching and learning •Cantonese literature/ literary writing in Cantonese •Studies of Cantonese early texts --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Submission of abstracts --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Each presentation will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. 2. All submitted abstracts can be written either in English or in Chinese, and are limited to one single-spaced A4 page, with 1-inch margin all around. Use font size 12 throughout. Any reference list must be included in the one-page limit. 3. The abstract should not contain the name(s) of the author(s) and the affiliation(s), and must be submitted electronically to the Organizing Committee by email at yue2017@eduhk.hk 。 4. Each anonymous abstract submitted must be in both MS Word format AND PDF format . In addition, both files are named with the title of the paper. 5. In the body of the email, provide the following information: (1) Name(s) of Author(s); (2) Institutional Affiliation(s); (3) Contact Address; (4) E-mail address; (5) Area of research (e.g., phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse); (6) Title of the paper. 6. We will accept at most one single-authored work AND one joint-authored work by an individual. 7. All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously.
