The goal of the conference is to bring together researchers who are using AI for music theory, analysis, models and applications, providing the opportunity to promote, present and discuss ongoing work in the area. The conference is organised jointly by the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Athens, and is partially sponsored by the John S. Latsis Public Foundation. Special Topic: Computational approaches to folk music analysis Topics: (non exclusive) Computational musicology Representational issues and models Formal and computational music analysis Information Retrieval using AI techniques Adaptive systems, music education systems Expressive performance Music generation and algorithmic composition Cognitive modelling of music Aesthetics and related philosophical issues AI approaches to semiotic and semantic musical issues Submissions of extended abstracts on all aspects of Music and AI are welcome. They must be in English, 2 pages formatted according to the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence guidelines. Authors' instructions and style files can be downloaded at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html All submissions should follow one of the two proposed headings structures, while making explicit the musical aspects of the work: Background Background Aims and motivation Aims Methods Main Contribution Results Implications Implications References References Contributions must be in PDF format and uploaded to the ICMAI easychair website http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icmai20110, indicating whether they are intended for oral or poster presentation.
