CALL FOR PAPERS

CSMR 2013 - 17th European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering

March 5-8 2013, Genova, Italy

http://csmr2013.disi.unige.it/
twitter: @csmr_eu

Sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and IEEE TCSE.

The European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering
(CSMR) is the premier European conference on the theory and practice
of maintenance, reengineering and evolution of software systems. It
promotes discussion and interaction among researchers and
practitioners about the development of maintainable systems, and the
evolution, migration and reengineering of the existing ones.

The conference will be held in Genova (Italy), the city of lighthouse.
CSMR is supported by the Reengineering Forum (REF). All accepted
contributions will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press.
Details on the submission process will be available soon on the
conference website. Authors of the most mature and promising papers
will be invited to submit an extended version of their manuscript to a
special issue of an international journal (under negotiation).

CSMR 2013 will feature technical research paper sessions, workshops,
tutorials, an early research achievements track, an industry paper
track, a tool demonstration track, a doctoral symposium and a special
track on European research projects within the field of software
maintenance and reengineering.

TOPICS

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

- Tools, formalisms and methods supporting the evolution of software
systems, software architectures and software models.
- Methods and techniques to assess, enable, improve and certify
maintainability and evolvability of software intensive systems.
- Techniques and approaches for software analysis, comprehension, and
reconstruction.
- Process models for software maintenance, reengineering, and evolution.
- Experience reports on maintenance and reengineering of large-scale systems.
- Empirical studies in software reengineering, maintenance, evolution
and renovation.
- Evaluation, assessment and benchmarks of reverse engineering and
reengineering tools.
- Education-related issues to evolution, maintenance and reengineering.
- Language support for software maintenance and evolution.
- Migration and evolution in emerging paradigms (SOA, cloud, AOP,
multi-core computing and the like).

RESEARCH TRACK:

Research papers (10 pages) should describe original and significant
work in the research and practice of software maintenance and
reengineering. Theoretical results, case studies, empirical research
and experiments are particularly welcome.

EARLY RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS (ERA) TRACK:

The ERA track papers (6 pages) should present great ideas and
promising work in early stages of research. The submissions do not
require full evaluation. The topics of interest are the same as the
main research track. Participants will have the opportunity to present
a summary of their work in form of a short paper and of a poster.

INDUSTRY TRACK:

The industry track papers (4 pages) should discuss industrial practice
and experience reports describing problems (and their solutions)
encountered in real applications.

TOOL DEMONSTRATION TRACK:

Tool demonstration track papers (4 pages) should include information on
the theory, models, and infrastructure of the demonstrated tool.
Challenges related to the use and adoption of the
demonstrated tool should also be included.

DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM:

The doctoral symposium track is for those who are currently working
on or have recently completed their PhD thesis. The papers (4 pages)
should describe a summary of their research.

EUROPEAN PROJECTS TRACK:

The European track papers (4 pages) should give an overview on ongoing
or recently completed projects (both national and international) in
Europe related to maintenance and/or reengineering.

WORKSHOP PROPOSALS:

Workshop proposals should include the names and affiliations of the
organizers, a description of the topic, the intended audience, and the
proposed format of the session. Once the proposal is accepted the
organizers should submit a paper describing the nature of the workshop
area, related work, and its anticipated impact.
